Emissions
The climate balance is our carbon footprint. It determines the impact on climate change and helps to identify active measures that can be taken to reduce carbon dioxide.
On behalf of the KRÜGER GROUP, Climate Partner GmbH has calculated a climate balance for the Bergisch Gladbach site based on relevant consumption values and specific emission factors. The analyses relate to the financial years 2017 and 2018. The calculation is based on the guidelines of the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol).
In determining the corporate carbon footprint, particular consideration was given to site-related greenhouse gas emissions – from heat and power consumption to employee mobility and the use of paper products. We also calculated the product carbon footprint (PCF) for the first products in 2018. Together with our project partner myclimate, we have selected the initiative “Efficient cookers save habitat for the last mountain gorillas” in Rwanda in order to make capsule production climate-neutral. It is also possible to make other products of the KRÜGER GROUP climate-neutral.
With the combined heat and power plant at the Stendal site, we achieve both an increase in efficiency and a reduction of pollutants.
Despite the high energy output required for our technical equipment, we focus on environmental protection and sustainability. To help achieve this, we are certified according to ISO 50001:2011 and have also set ourselves ambitious goals beyond this.

19,000 t per year CO₂ emission avoidance
Our combined heat and power plant provides us with almost 100% self-produced electrical energy. With a capacity of 5.3 MW and complete waste heat utilization, there are both ecological and economic benefits: first and foremost, the avoidance of 19,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
