Four raw materials play a fundamental role in many products of the KRÜGER GROUP: coffee, milk, cocoa, and hazelnuts.
No matter what products are made from them, only the highest-quality raw materials are used. Sustainable and resource-conserving cultivation is already essential at the procurement stage, as is species-appropriate animal husbandry. With this clear aim in mind, we obtain the majority of our raw materials from partners whom we know personally and with whom we maintain long-term business relationships.
Our procurement specialists travel to our contract farmers and cooperatives. In order to contribute to a constant improvement in the living conditions of our local farmers, intensive discussions are held there and training is offered – on topics such as environmental protection and efficient production conditions.
The close relationship of trust that we have built up with our partners all over the world is the basis for the high and constant quality promise given by the KRÜGER GROUP.
As part of the sustainable procurement of raw materials, we attach particular importance to certifications such as BIO, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance RSPO, and UTZ.
Within the last three years, we have increased our share of certified raw materials for coffee, cocoa, tea, palm oil, and hazelnuts by 5%.
For this reason alone, all subsidiaries of the KRÜGER GROUP are members of relevant programs and initiatives. As an active member of the UTZ cocoa program, Ludwig Schokolade also works together with the Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade. Without exception, we use RSPO-certified palm oil from sustainable cultivation in all products and at all production sites.
